Original Album Series is LOUDNESS's box in the budget series of that name from Rhino, Warner's catalogue label, issued in 2010. It holds five albums, one to a disc: THUNDER IN THE EAST (1985), LIGHTNING STRIKES (1986), HURRICANE EYES (1987), SOLDIER OF FORTUNE (1989) and ON THE PROWL (1991).
By the band's own biography, America's Atlantic Records noticed them after their first US West Coast and European tours in 1983, and LOUDNESS became the first Japanese band to sign a worldwide multi-album deal. THUNDER IN THE EAST, their first worldwide release, reached number 74 on Billboard's chart and stayed there nineteen weeks in a row, and LIGHTNING STRIKES climbed to number 64. The last two albums come from after Minoru Niihara's departure, announced in December 1988. The five come to fifty tracks; Tower Records lists the import with a date of 9 August 2010.
