Fields of Yesterday is a work on which characteristically LILLIAN AXE shadowed melody and guitar arrangement worked out to the details shine. While the songs have hard-rock strength, the vocal’s emotional expression and the sway of the harmony leave a deeper lingering. It is a record on which the band’s lyricism can be savored slowly.
On “Death Valley Daze,” “Twilight In Hell” and “The Last Time,” a construction that values the sorrow and drama of the melody over speed or flash is impressive.
