LINER NOTES
LANGUAGE
Labyrinth is a self-titled work on which LABYRINTH combined high-speed guitar, gorgeous keyboards and soaring vocals, foregrounding the elation of European power metal. The songs are technical, but the melody and choruses remain clear, not leaving the listener behind. Centered on a fantastical worldview, it is a conceptual record. On “Into the Unknown,” “Hero's Quest” and “Lord of Battles,” the contrast of aggressive scenes and lyrical phrases gives the album rich undulation. Songs like “Return of the Dungeon Master” and “Chaos Shrine” breathe the band’s full playing too. A worldview evoking a tale of swords and magic runs throughout. It is an ambitious record that balanced the band’s playing ability and melodic sense.
