L.A. Guns

L.A. Guns is the band's debut album, released by Vertigo in January 1988. It is the first record made by the group Tracii Guns had started in Los Angeles in 1983 once Phil Lewis, previously the singer in the British band Girl, joined in 1987. Japan has always sold it under a Japanese title of its own; the pressing at the time was PPD-1043. Eleven songs, about thirty-seven minutes. "Sex Action", "One More Reason", "Electric Gypsy" and "Hollywood Tease" are all here already, and all four were still being played nearly forty years later — three of them turn up in the 2025 Guild Theatre concert. The sound is rawer and less polished than most of what came out of Los Angeles at the same moment, which is a large part of why the record has kept its reputation. The band's own YouTube channel carries the music videos for "Sex Action" and "Electric Gypsy". In Japan the album was reissued as PHCR-4130 on 21 October 1993, and Universal Music Japan put out a limited budget edition (UICY-78616, ¥1,100 including tax) on 14 March 2018.
