LINER NOTES

On their third album Kreator recorded as a four-piece for the first time. Jörg "Tritze" Trzebiatowski came in on lead guitar, which left Petrozza free to concentrate on singing and rhythm playing. The sessions were at Horus Sound Studio in Hanover with Roy Rowland producing, and Noise International put the 12-inch out on 22 September 1987 as N 0086.
The extra pair of hands changed how the songs are built. The way "Blind Faith" hands over to "Storming with Menace," the placement of the riffs in the title track, the middle sections of "Toxic Trace" and "Behind the Mirror" — these are arranged in a way the first two albums, which ran mostly on straight-line speed, are not. On "As the World Burns" Ventor takes a co-lead vocal, the last trace of the two-singer line-up of the debut.
The running order here is the eight-track original of 1987. The current master appends songs from the 1988 EP Out of the Dark… Into the Light and live recordings from the Dynamo Club in Eindhoven, and that is what the player on this page carries.
