LINER NOTES
LANGUAGE
This is the sixth studio album, released by Relativity in October 1995 as 88561-1500-2, twelve tracks. It was his last record for Relativity; the eleven that followed came out on Epic, part of Sony Music.
It stands a little apart from the instrumental rock before it. There is less reliance on effects and overdubs, the blues shows through, and the whole thing is looser. It was recorded in the space of a few weeks, and Satriani handed the production he had always done himself to Glyn Johns, the man behind records by Led Zeppelin, the Who and the Rolling Stones.
There is singing too: Satriani takes the microphone here, and would not do so again until Is There Love in Space? in 2004. The album reached number 51 on the Billboard 200, stayed seven weeks and made the top hundred in four other countries. The single (You're) My World reached number 30 on Billboard's Mainstream Rock chart and brought a seventh Grammy nomination in 1997. The running order here is the import CD's as printed.
