Live After Death (40th Anniversary Edition) marks forty years since the 1985 live album with a limited collectors' pressing: the 2015 remaster on two 140-gram LPs, one blue and one yellow, in a reproduction of the original gatefold sleeve. Eighteen tracks. The band announced it on 14 October 2025, forty years to the day after the album first appeared. With it come replicas of the 24-page programme for the World Slavery Tour of 1984-85 and of a tour pass, and a twelve-page booklet: the original eight pages plus a new essay, "Rime And Punishment: Celebrating 40 Years Of Live After Death", for which fan club editor Alexander Milas interviewed Steve Harris, Nicko McBrain, Rod Smallwood and the illustrator Derek Riggs. According to the band, most of the album comes from four nights at Long Beach Arena in Los Angeles in March 1985, and its final side from four nights at the Hammersmith Odeon in London in October 1984. Both stands belonged to the World Slavery Tour behind 1984's Powerslave, a run that began in Poland and reached 187 shows in 331 days. The Japanese distributor's notes say that nothing was overdubbed, because producer Martin Birch mixed the album while the tour was still going, and give chart peaks of number 2 in the UK and number 19 in the US. Parlophone released it on 28 November 2025, BMG issued it in the United States on 12 December, and it is sold in Japan as an import.
