Liner Notes
H.E.A.T II is the sixth album, on which — as if in reaction to the experimental previous record — the band returns to a heavier, more direct melodic rock. It opens up singalong choruses and racing riffs to full, amplifying the pleasure of arena rock. Erik Grönwall's high, powerful voice rings clear over firm guitars and Jona Tee's keyboards, balancing early brightness with modern weight. As the title suggests, it is an ambitious work aiming at once for a return to origins and self-renewal.
“Rock Your Body” opens the album with momentum, and “Dangerous Ground” became one of the band's most popular songs with its robust hook. On “Come Clean” and “One by One,” catchiness and drive bind at high density. Through to “Rise,” it keeps an accomplished flow with no filler. Shortly after this album, the band had to postpone many tour dates amid the COVID-19 pandemic. Grönwall soon left, and original vocalist Kenny Leckremo returned. It thus became the last studio album of Grönwall's tenure.
