Liner Notes
The Way of All Flesh is Gojira's fourth album, on which they built modern metal that gazes at life and death, piling up mechanical riffs and overwhelming weight. From the environmental theme of the previous album, it shifts its focus to the inevitability of death. Recording took place at the band's home studio, and Joe Duplantier handled production. The drums were recorded in Los Angeles, with Logan Mader mixing. The album debuted at No. 138 on the Billboard 200 and reached No. 1 on the Heatseekers chart.
Powerful songs like "Vacuity," "Oroborus" and "The Art of Dying" line up. Introspective lyrics run throughout, such as "The Art of Dying," themed on Buddhist rebirth. Randy Blythe of Lamb of God guested on "Adoration for None." The album also appeared on the American charts, making their reputation still more solid. A mature record where density and heaviness reach their peak. The cover artwork was created by Joe Duplantier himself. Busy, irregular rhythms and crushing riffs dominate the whole record.
