Liner Notes
Somewhere Out in Space is the fifth album on which GAMMA RAY brought together high-speed riffs, thick choruses and futuristic narrative on a large scale. Kai Hansen’s singing and guitar generate a forward force, and the songs change scenes as if traveling through space. From this work guitarist Henjo Richter joined, making the twin-guitar lineup more solid.
On “Beyond the Black Hole,” “Men, Martians and Machines,” “Somewhere out in Space” and “Valley of the Kings,” the exhilaration of racing songs and grand construction balance splendidly. Songs like “The Guardians of Mankind” and “Watcher in the Sky” breathe a sci-fi imagination too. There are rich highlights not only in the exhilaration of racing songs but in longer songs with development. Wrapping power metal’s elation in a cosmic imagination, it is a record emblematic of GAMMA RAY’s full period.
