Advance to the Fall is a fulfilling second album on which Galneryus layers fast twin guitars, gorgeous, splendid keyboards and piercing high-range vocals. It makes the neoclassical direction established on the debut more powerful and refined. The density of the playing’s technique is extremely high, yet the songs always move powerfully toward big, memorable melody and valiant choruses. A record where Yama-B (Masaki Yamada)’s soaring high range shines. From the development from the opener “Stillness Dawn” to the speeding “Silent Revelation” and the drama of “Ancient Rage” to a cut like “Fate of the Sadness,” every song is engaging, while a cut like “Deep Affection” conveys the work’s fullness. The gorgeous interplay of Syu’s neoclassical guitar and Yuhki’s splendid keyboards is in sharp form throughout.
