LINER NOTES
LANGUAGE
This is the first album by what became the band's best-known line-up. Christian Olde Wolbers joined on bass, though he plays on only about half of it; guitarist Dino Cazares played the rest.
Colin Richardson produced. Rhys Fulber handled keyboards, synthesizers, sampling and effects and also worked on the mix; Greg Reely mixed and George Marino mastered. The cover artwork is by Dave McKean.
Over drums and guitars that hammer with machine precision, Burton C. Bell's voice moves between a roar and clean singing. That movement was new at the time, and it leaves songs like "Replica", "Zero Signal" and the title track lodged in the memory while the sound around them stays extremely heavy. The album was certified gold in Australia by ARIA and silver in Britain by the BPI. In July 2013 the band toured Australia playing it in full, and in 2015 they marked its twentieth year with a tour of Europe and North America. The running order here is the original's as printed.
