LINER NOTES
LANGUAGE
The Open Door (20th Anniversary Deluxe Edition) marks twenty years of The Open Door, the second studio album Evanescence made, first issued in 2006. The thirteen songs are newly remastered, and three rarities from the same period and a demo of "Good Enough" that had never been heard join them, for seventeen tracks. The edition's release date is 6 November 2026, through Craft Recordings, on CD, as a double LP and digitally. It was the first album after Ben Moody, who made the debut Fallen with Amy Lee, had left, and Craft describes it as the record on which Amy Lee took greater creative control. Dave Fortman produced and mixed it. It entered the Billboard 200 at number one with more than 447,000 copies in its first week and reached number two in Britain; "Call Me When You're Sober" became a Top 10 hit on the Billboard Hot 100, and "Sweet Sacrifice" was nominated for the Grammy for Best Hard Rock Performance. The running order of the album itself, from "Sweet Sacrifice" through "Lacrymosa", built on Mozart's Requiem, to the closing "Good Enough", is the 2006 one. Of the four additions, Craft calls "If You Don't Mind", "Together Again" and "The Last Song I'm Wasting On You" fan-favourite rarities of The Open Door era. All three were on Lost Whispers, the 2016 collection of rarities, and "Together Again" was first offered in January 2010 as a download for people who donated to the United Nations Foundation for relief after the Haiti earthquake. The last track, "Good Enough (Demo Version)", is a demo of the album's closing song, heard here for the first time. Remastered songs began to appear ahead of the edition, starting with "Sweet Sacrifice" on 24 September 2026. In June of the same year the band had released Sanctuary, their sixth studio album. No Japanese edition had been announced as of 31 October 2026.
