War of Kings

War of Kings is the tenth album, on which Europe brought thick classic-hard-rock riffs, bluesy guitar and dignified vocals to the front. With the lineup of Joey Tempest (vocals), John Norum (guitar), John Levén (bass), Mic Michaeli (keyboards) and Ian Haugland (drums), producer Dave Cobb was brought in. Rather than 1980s glitter, it emphasizes raw band groove and amp sound, and the songs have an earthy strength. On songs like "War of Kings" and "Hole in My Pocket," weighty riffs and Tempest's powerful voice unite.
