Liner Notes

Dreams for the Daring, released in 2003, is the second album, on which Dreamtide layered crying guitar, a smooth high register and neat rhythm to draw melodic hard rock's melancholy carefully. The songs open gorgeously while leaving shaded chords and phrases throughout. The line-up is unchanged from the debut and the label is again Frontiers; Helge Engelke wrote, and the band produced. From the opening “Dream Real” into “Live and Let Live” and “All of My Dreams,” and on to “Eden” and “Dreams Are Free.” Technical guitar lifts the emotion of the songs, and over Olaf Senkbeil's singing the choruses ring wide and easy. Rock Hard raised its score from the debut's 7.5 to a 9. A record that conveys the appeal of German melodic rock richly. Engelke shaped this idiom in both Fair Warning and Zeno, and his hand is at work here exactly as before. Ole Hempelmann plays bass, C.C. Behrens drums and Torsten Lüderwaldt keys — the debut's momentum pushed straight outward into one of the series' best-received records.
