LINER NOTES
LANGUAGE
Rapture of the Deep (20th Anniversary Remix) returns to the Deep Purple studio album of 2005 and reissues it across two discs for its twentieth year. According to earMUSIC, bassist Roger Glover supervised a complete new mix, the analogue mastering was done at Chameleon Studios in Hamburg, and the artwork is new. The original is the band's eighteenth studio album; Young Guitar gives the line-up that made it as Ian Gillan on vocals, Steve Morse on guitar, Don Airey on keyboards, Ian Paice on drums and Glover on bass. Glover recalls that the band had no record deal when the writing and recording began, and felt somewhat adrift. Of the remix he says it sounds to him like a new album. Two of the twelve songs on the first disc, "Things I Never Said" and "MTV", were not on the original album according to the track listing Blabbermouth published; earMUSIC describes the first of them as a bonus track from the limited edition. The second disc holds five studio jams and rehearsals recorded to multitrack in 2005 and mixed for the first time in 2025. It closes on "Closing Note", an instrumental by Morse, the band's guitarist at the time, released officially here for the first time. earMUSIC put the set out on 29 August 2025 as a CD digipak, a black 180-gram 3LP and a limited clear sky-blue 3LP, and King Records issued the Japanese edition on 22 October on two Blu-spec CDs, KICP-4106/7, a format used for Japan alone. Seventeen tracks, about eighty-one minutes.
