Liner Notes
Riot Avenue is Crazy Lixx's third album, on which they energetically packed in big 80s-style hooks and a street feel. This time they made it themselves, without an outside producer. Heavier than the previous two, they stepped into a more aggressive, riff-centered style. Edd Liam joined on guitar, giving them a twin-guitar lineup. At this point Danny Rexon was the sole remaining founding member. Rexon said, "We've been trying to make this album heavier than our previous releases, and this time it meant doing it ourselves," steering toward a tougher direction.
Raw, powerful songs like "Whiskey Tango Foxtrot," "In the Night" and "Church of Rock" line up. Dusty hard rock reminiscent of AC/DC and Def Leppard runs throughout. Stepping beyond the sleaze-leaning sound of their early days, they established a style of their own. A record supported by fans and critics as a hidden gem. After this album, drummer Joél Cirera and bassist Loke Rivano departed, and the band was once again down to a trio. Even so, the songs here reach a level that represents the best of their early years.
