The band's origins date back to 2000, to a project established by Dave Lepard (born David Hellman). Initially, the band's name was sometimes written as two words, "Crash Dïet," and their musical style was harder, more punk-oriented, and heavily influenced by extreme metal, rather than their later glam style.

The lineup during this period holds extremely significant meaning for the subsequent music scene.

Subsequently, in 2013, they released their fourth album, "The Savage Playground." Featuring singles like "Cocaine Cowboys," this work presented a more desolate, dystopian worldview, but it also included experimental elements that polarized critics and fans alike.

However, internal tensions within the band had reached their limit. In January 2015, in the middle of the band's first visit to Japan — two nights at Club Citta' in Kawasaki on 10 and 11 January, on the KAWASAKI ROCK CITY VOL.3 bill — Simon Cruz walked out with no notice and went home. This incident made it impossible for the band to continue their activities, forcing them into a practical state of dissolution (hiatus).

2.5 Resurrection and the Path to Stability: The "Rust" & "Automaton" Era (2017-2023)

Breaking a silence of several years, the band announced the addition of new vocalist Gabriel Keyes in December 2017. Gabriel, a singer with a more classic hard rock style, brought stability and a return to roots to the band.

In 2019, they released their fifth album, "Rust." As indicated by the title, this album projected the image of a band that, though scarred over time, had not lost its luster, earning high praise from fans and critics alike. This has fueled speculation regarding internal priorities and relationships within the band.

Amidst this chaos, the band announced the release of their seventh studio album, "Art of Chaos." The release date was set for May 8, 2026, under the label Ninetone Records. Described by the band themselves as "the sleaziest set of tracks in years," this album is highly anticipated to recapture their early dangerous charm.
