R.I.P.

The first album by the Zürich trio, released by Noise Records in June 1987 as the 12-inch N 0075. The band is Tommy Vetterli — Tommy T. Baron — on guitar, Ron Broder, or Ron Royce, on bass and vocals, and Marky Edelmann, Marquis Marky, on drums. The demo that got them the Noise contract, Death Cult, had Celtic Frost's Tom G. Warrior singing on it. On the album Broder sings. Put back into 1987, the intricacy of the playing is what stands out. The riffing of "Reborn Through Hate", "Suicide Command" and "Totentanz" subdivides the beat finely, with the fingering moving continuously inside the speed. It is close to the first example of what would be called technical thrash. The running order here is the original's eight songs; masters from the CD era onwards add "Spiral Dream", whose lyrics Tom G. Warrior wrote.
