The Greatest Hits Part 1

The debut album by CoreLeoni, the band Gotthard's guitarist Leo Leoni started in 2017. Leoni gives the reason on the band's own site: there are so many bands paying tribute to Gotthard and playing those old songs, so why not do it himself and enjoy it. In the same passage he names the songs he meant — "Downtown", "Firedance", "Higher", "Here Comes The Heat", "In The Name", "Ride On", "Let It Be" and "All I Care 4". Ronnie Romero, of Rainbow and Lords of Black, sings; Romero's own site confirms he made two CoreLeoni albums, this one and the next. It exists in a lot of editions. The international digital release runs thirteen songs; the Italian CD, FR CD 844, runs fourteen, adding "El Traidor"; the Japanese edition, GQCS-90515, runs fifteen, its extra an acoustic "All I Care For". Japan also got a Japanese booklet, and a lyric translation for exactly one song, "Walk on Water". Even the opening title moves: the digital and Spotify editions call it "Love Theme From 'The Godfather'", while the Italian CD prints "Il Padrino". Japan came first. Ward Records put it out on 14 February 2018, nine days before the international release on 23 February. Because the songs are re-recordings of existing material, Spotify files the album as a compilation, while MusicBrainz files it as an album with no secondary type; the recordings themselves are new, so this site treats it as a studio album. One gap worth stating: none of the three pressings catalogued on Discogs carries performer credits at all, so the line-up for this record rests on the November 2017 announcement and on Romero's own account, not on anything printed on the sleeve.
