Bloodmoon: I is the tenth Converge album and a collaborative record billed to Converge & Chelsea Wolfe. Epitaph and Deathwish Inc. released it on 19 November 2021, four years after The Dusk in Us.
Its groundwork was laid by the Blood Moon shows of 2016, where Converge joined Wolfe and her collaborator Ben Chisholm, former member Stephen Brodsky of Cave In and Steve Von Till of Neurosis to play older Converge songs in an atmospheric, post-rock register. Everyone but Von Till reassembled to record this. Jacob Bannon put it plainly: the songs were written by seven people, and all seven are inside that mix more than on any other Converge record. Work began late in 2019 and the rest was finished remotely through 2020 because of the pandemic. It is the first Converge album since Axe to Fall in 2009 to carry guests at all.
Guitarist Kurt Ballou produced and singer Jacob Bannon made the artwork. The reception was unanimous: Metacritic averaged 89 out of 100 from ten reviews. The order here is the eleven tracks of the American CD, Epitaph 87770.
