A Chapter Called Children of Bodom (Final Show in Helsinki Ice Hall 2019)

On 15 December 2019, at the Helsinki Ice Hall, Children of Bodom played a concert billed as A Chapter Called Children of Bodom and ended. This record is that show. Alexi Laiho and Daniel Freyberg carried on the following year as Bodom After Midnight. Laiho — a founding member, and the only person who wrote for this band — died on 29 December 2020, so three years sit between the concert and the release. In Spinefarm's own material Freyberg says what it means for the last show to become a record: anyone who was in the hall is taken back to the moment, and anyone who was not can hear how the chapter closed. The eighteen songs do not lean on any one album. Early material like "Deadnight Warrior" and "Follow the Reaper" stands beside "Hate Crew Deathroll", "Are You Dead Yet?", "Blooddrunk" and "Halo of Blood", and the last studio album, Hexed, is there in "Under the Grass and Clover" and "Platitudes and Barren Words". It closes with "Downfall". Ultra-Vybe brought Spinefarm's release into Japan with Japanese packaging on 15 December 2023, as SPINE-800310PJ.
