Terrasite

Terrasite is the eighth studio album by Cattle Decapitation, of San Diego, released on 12 May 2023 through Metal Blade Records. It was recorded in Denver with producer Dave Otero. Gabe Serbian, a founding member of the band, died just before the sessions began. During the two and a half months of recording the band played a tribute show for him in Austin, Texas. Travis Ryan left the Denver studio to attend Serbian's memorial in San Diego and caught COVID-19 in transit, which held the work up. Serbian's death, together with that of their friend Trevor Strnad of The Black Dahlia Murder, left the band reeling; Ryan called it the roughest recording session ever. The line-up is Travis Ryan on vocals, Josh Elmore on lead guitar, Belisario Dimuzio on rhythm guitar, Olivier Pinard on bass and Dave McGraw on drums, with Dis Pater -- Tony Parker -- adding keyboards, synthesiser and percussion to tracks one, three and ten. Wes Benscoter painted the cover. "We Eat Our Young" was the first single, on 16 February 2023, followed by "Scourge of the Offspring" on 29 March. In May 2025 Metal Blade and NJV Media released a feature documentary filmed during these sessions, From This Flesh: A Cattle Decapitation Story.
