LINER NOTES
LANGUAGE
This is the second album, made a year and a half after the debut with a changed line-up. Garry Jennings plays guitar and bass, Lee Dorrian sings, Adam Lehan takes the other guitar and Mark Ramsey Wharton is now on drums. David Bianco recorded, produced and mixed it, with Shaun DeFo engineering.
The strange slowness of the first record is eased here, and in its place comes momentum that rolls without losing weight. Peter Atkinson of the Record-Journal wrote that tempering the oppressive gloom of the debut into a more spirited thunder had produced the heaviest and most satisfying album of the year. Xavier Russell of Kerrang! rated it above Forest of Equilibrium, singling out how much clearer Dorrian's words had become and the interplay between the two guitars.
Earache released it in Britain in May 1993 and Columbia in the United States that July. Terrorizer listed it among the 100 Most Important Albums of the Nineties in 2000, and Kerrang! placed it at number 83 in 2005. The sleeve painting is again by Dave Patchett. The running order here is the original's as printed.
