Temper Temper

Temper Temper is the record this band wrote for the widest room. It does not push with speed or complexity: the songs are built from short, squared-off riffs and large choruses, and they are kept to a tidy length — "Riot" runs two minutes forty-nine, the title track three minutes nine. There was a corporate move behind it. In October 2011 RCA Music Group folded Jive, Arista and J Records, and the band were transferred to RCA. In the same period Matt Tuck was running Axewound, a side project he described by pointing at Pantera and Slipknot, whose drummer was Jason Bowld — later Bullet for My Valentine's own. "Temper Temper" came out in October 2012 with a video on 12 November, then "Riot" in December, "P.O.W." on 24 May 2013 and "Breaking Point" on 7 June. Track ten, "Tears Don't Fall, Part 2", is a sequel written eight years after the song from the debut that it continues. Sony Music put the Japanese edition out ahead of the rest of the world, on 6 February 2013 as SICP 3730, with four extra tracks including a cover of AC/DC's "Whole Lotta Rosie" recorded for BBC Radio 1 — fifteen in all.
