Buckcherry is the debut on which BUCKCHERRY pushed through with bluesy guitar riffs, gritty vocals and the momentum of dangerous rock ’n’ roll. The songs are simple, but the tenacity of the rhythm and the strength of the hooks generate intense drive. It is Los Angeles-born sleazy hard rock inheriting the lineage of Aerosmith and Guns N’ Roses. On “Lit Up,” “For the Movies” and “Check Your Head,” a rawness as if the band were playing all in the same room comes to the front over any ornament. In particular, “Lit Up” became a hit that made the band’s name known at a stroke. Songs like “Crushed,” “Dead Again” and “Get Back” breathe the band’s rough appeal too. Restoring wildness to late-1990s hard rock, it is a powerful debut that clearly shows the band’s direction to come.
