amo

This is the sixth album by the band from Sheffield, its title written in lower case. It had been set for 11 January 2019 and came out on the 25th; the announcement was made on 22 August 2018, the day after the first single "Mantra". Oliver Sykes, who sings, and keyboard player Jordan Fish produced it, and most of the writing and recording was done in Los Angeles. Five singles came before the album. "Mantra" on 21 August 2018, "Wonderful Life" with Dani Filth of Cradle of Filth on 21 October, "Medicine" on 3 January 2019, "Mother Tongue" on 22 January and "Nihilist Blues" with Grimes on 24 January. Two more followed it: "Sugar Honey Ice & Tea" on 26 July and "In the Dark" on 21 October. "Mantra" entered the UK Rock and Metal chart at number one and its video appeared on 24 August. In the 22 August 2018 issue of Kerrang! the band called the record varied, free, weird and mental, and NME noted that "Mantra" carries on the electronic and pop rock elements that had appeared on That's the Spirit in 2015. It was met with acclaim on release, and the band took it out that year on the First Love World Tour.
