LINER NOTES
LANGUAGE
This is the first album by the four-piece based in Sweden, released by Nuclear Blast on 25 July 2014. Elin Larsson sings, Dorian Sorriaux plays electric and acoustic guitar, Zach Anderson bass and Cory Berry drums, and most of the songs were written by Larsson, Sorriaux and Anderson together.
Several of the ten tracks are re-recordings of songs from earlier EPs, and a good deal of the writing about the record praised how much the second attempts improved on them. "Gypsy" is a cover of the Chubby Checker song. Two singles were pulled from it, "High Class Woman" and "No Hope Left for Me", and Nuclear Blast made videos for both.
Don Alsterberg produced, mixed and recorded it and Hans Olsson-Brookes mastered. Marijke Koger-Dunham designed the sleeve, and her hand is that of 1960s poster art exactly. Most reviews reached for 1960s blues and 1970s rock, but what actually holds the record up is the size of Larsson's voice and the composure of Sorriaux's guitar playing, which does not sound like a man still in his teens. The order here is the standard ten tracks; the Japanese edition (IUCP-16200) carries twelve.
