Daydreaming/Choose me

Daydreaming/Choose me is a double A-side single released by Nippon Crown on 19 July 2017. It sits between the albums Just Bring It and WORLD DOMINATION, and the decision to give two very different songs equal billing is itself a measure of how wide the band's range had become by this point. 'Daydreaming' opens on a weightless intro and breaks open at the chorus. It is unusual among BAND-MAID songs in that it works through the handling of space rather than through speed. 'Choose me', by contrast, is built on a crisp riff and a straight-line arrangement, and it carries into the recording the sheer density of playing the band brings to a stage. Both getting an official music video made the double-A billing visible rather than merely stated. The third song, 'Play', was later moved onto WORLD DOMINATION, and even here it already carries the air of that record. 'Daydreaming' was likewise re-recorded onto the album, so this single functions less as a self-contained release than as a bridge into the next one. Both title songs were collected on 10th Anniversary Best Vol.1 in 2023, where they sit at the centre of the ten-year sequence.
