Brand New MAID shows BAND-MAID stepping from an early pop-rock outline into a harder band identity. “the non-fiction days” and “ORDER” bring riffs and rhythmic drive to the front, clearly pointing toward the more aggressive sound to come. True to its title, a will to establish a new band image runs through the release.
At the same time, songs such as “alone” connect catchy vocal writing with instrumental heat, so the band’s melodic strength is never forgotten. The drive of “LOOK AT ME,” “Brand-New ROAD” and “FREEDOM” alternates with the feeling of “YURAGU” and “Before Yesterday,” creating range within a compact track list. It is striking how much more KANAMI’s guitar and the MISA–AKANE rhythm push to the front than before. Some edges are still rough, but that energy is part of the appeal, and the contrast between SAIKI and Miku Kobato remains effective. It is an important bridge for understanding how BAND-MAID became a hard-rock force.
