Liner Notes
Wound Creations is the 2004 debut on which Amoral packed finely switching guitar riffs, abrupt rhythm changes and raw growls together at high density. The band was formed in Helsinki in 1997 by two teenagers, Ben Varon (guitar) and Juhana Karlsson (drums), with Silver Ots joining soon after. The first singer, Matti Pitkänen, was quickly replaced by Niko Kalliojärvi, and for a time Ville Sorvali of Moonsorrow played bass. It followed the demos Desolation and Other Flesh.
The songs move technically while keeping strong drive through riff aggression and playing momentum; the run from the opening “The Verge” into “Atrocity Evolution” shows that density well. It first appeared on Rage of Achilles, but when that label went bankrupt Spikefarm picked the band up and reissued it, adding “Metamorphosis” from an early demo as a bonus — the ten-track shape in circulation today. A month-long European tour with Finntroll and Naglfar, and a slot at Tuska Open Air, pushed them up out of the underground. A record that rearranges death and thrash elements in its own way and cuts Amoral's early impulse sharply into vinyl.
