Liner Notes
In Sequence, released on 5 February 2016, is the final album, on which Amoral combined complex structures, heavy guitar and melodic singing while refusing simple genre labels. Japan got it first, on 29 January, through Ward Records. In March 2015 the early singer Niko Kalliojärvi returned as a third guitarist and growler, making the band a six-piece with two vocalists and three guitars. Ben Varon described the sessions as being made in an Yngwie Malmsteen state of mind: more is more.
“Rude Awakening,” following the opening “In Sequence (A Prologue),” became the first track on which both singers can be heard together. Guests were invited for the first time: Teho Majamäki's percussion, female vocals from Indica's Jonsu, and oud and analogue synths from Acyl's Amine Benotmane. The 10:44 “From the Beginning (The Note, Pt. 2)” closes the eight songs, 55 minutes in total. That July the band announced they would break up in early 2017; the last show came on 5 January 2017 at Tavastia in Helsinki, with every member from the band's history.
