Liner Notes
The Fall of Ideals is the third album, gathering chugging guitar, breakdowns, and Phil Labonte's screams and clean vocals at high density. Released in July 2006, again produced by Adam Dutkiewicz with ex-Soilwork's Peter Wichers engineering; the artwork is by Travis Smith. It's the only album with drummer Shannon Lucas, and bassist Jeanne Sagan joins here. It was recorded at Zing Recording Studios in Massachusetts.
The aggressive parts are sharp and the choruses open wide, so each song's emotion switches in an instant. Even the technical riffs have clear hooks, and heaviness and melodic sense never weaken each other. “This Calling” became the lead track of the Saw III soundtrack, and “Six” was included in Guitar Hero II. It entered the Billboard 200 at No. 75 and passed 100,000 US sales the next year; they also played Ozzfest. Labonte himself says life was going well at the time and the lyrics turned more positive. A landmark record that shaped 2000s metalcore's momentum with precise playing and strong melody.
