Rise of Vikingr

『Rise of Vikingr』は、2022年8月29日に自主レーベルのパリッシュ・エンターテインメントから出た、ペイトン・パリッシュの本格的な第一作である。彼が世に出たのは2020年、ゲーム『アサシン クリード ヴァルハラ』の楽曲“My Mother Told Me”を歌った動画が拡散したことによる。同曲がドラマ『ヴァイキング〜海の覇者たち〜』で使われたことで火はさらに広がり、翌2021年には“Valhalla Calling”“I'll Make a Man Out of You”“Go the Distance”がビルボードで首位を取った。本作はiTunesの全ジャンルで初登場1位を記録している。 全16曲51分。北欧神話と戦士の主題で貫かれ、“Bardagi”に始まって“Battle of York”で終わる。客演は3組で、バッド・ウルヴズにいたトミー・ヴェクストが“Dane”に、デヴィッド・マイケル・フランクが“Helgafjell”に、レイチェル・ハーディとミア・アサノが“I'll See You Again”に加わる。8曲目には彼を世に出した“My Mother Told Me”の古ノルド語メタル版が置かれており、出発点がそのままアルバムの中に組み込まれている。

Rise of Vikingr, released on 29 August 2022 on his own label Parrish Entertainment, is Peyton Parrish's first album proper. He had surfaced in 2020, when his performance of "My Mother Told Me" — a song from the game Assassin's Creed Valhalla — spread online; the track's use on the television series Vikings widened the fire further, and in 2021 "Valhalla Calling," "I'll Make a Man Out of You" and "Go the Distance" all reached number one on Billboard charts. This album entered at number one across all iTunes genres. Sixteen songs, 51 minutes, held together by Norse mythology and warriors, running from "Bardagi" to "Battle of York." There are three guest appearances: Tommy Vext, formerly of Bad Wolves, on "Dane"; David Michael Frank on "Helgafjell"; and Rachel Hardy with Mia Asano on "I'll See You Again." Track eight is an Old Norse metal version of "My Mother Told Me," the song that made him — his starting point built directly into the record.
