Teenage Rebel

『Teenage Rebel』は、NESTORが2024年5月31日にナパーム・レコーズから発表した第2作である。前作を独立リリースした後、2022年にワールドワイド契約を結んだレーベルだ。バンドはこれを『Kids in a Ghost Town』の続編のようなものだと説明した。若く、自信に満ち、未来が無限に見えた栄光の日々を舞台にしながら、その日々を今どう振り返るかまでを描くのだという。プロデュースはトビアス・グスタフソンとホーカン・グレンテ、ミックスはセバスチャン・フォシュルンドとグレンテ、マスタリングは再びトーマス・ヨハンソンが担った。 冒頭に置かれた“The Law of Jante”は、デンマークの声優フレイヤ・ミラーによる語りだ。自分が特別だと思うな——北欧社会に根を張るヤンテの法則を、ティーンエイジの反抗を歌う一枚の入口へ据える皮肉が効いている。そこから“We Come Alive”が爆発する。先行シングル“Victorious”について彼らはこう語った。心に従い、決して諦めないという話だ、80年代末に始めて以来ずっとそれが自分たちの指針だった、と。作品はドイツで12位、母国スウェーデンで19位に達している。

Teenage Rebel is the second album, released by Napalm Records on 31 May 2024 — the label Nestor signed to worldwide in 2022, after putting the debut out themselves. The band called it something like a sequel to Kids in a Ghost Town: set in the glory days when they were young and confident and the future looked endless, but also about how they look back on those days now. Tobias Gustavsson and Håkan Glänte produced, Sebastian Forslund and Glänte mixed, and Thomas Johansson mastered once again. The opening “The Law of Jante” is a monologue spoken by the Danish voice actress Freya Miller. Do not think you are anything special — putting the Jante Law, that deep-rooted Scandinavian social code, at the door of a record about teenage rebellion is a good joke well told. “We Come Alive” then detonates. Of the lead single “Victorious,” the band said it is about following your heart and refusing to give up, and that this had been their guideline ever since they started in the late 1980s. The album reached number 12 in Germany and number 19 at home in Sweden.
