You Can’t Kill My Rock ’n Roll makes Hardcore Superstar’s streetwise hard rock sound even tougher. Jocke Berg’s slightly ragged vocal, Silver’s cutting guitar and punk-derived straight-ahead beat keep the songs moving hard. The title track and “Have Mercy on Me” find large hooks inside the roughness. Glam-metal flash remains, but the sound never becomes too sweet. It feels like a record made by a long-running band turning its stubborn devotion to rock and roll directly into sound.
