『Thrill of the Bite』は、80年代グラム・メタルの華やかさと現代的な音圧を両立させた、CRAZY LIXXの快作である第9作だ。2025年2月にFrontiersからリリースされた、すべてがオリジナル曲で構成される久々の本格スタジオ作である。ドラマーにはロビン・ニルソンが新たに加入した。『Street Lethal』から約3年、コンピレーションを経て届けられた、オリジナル曲だけで固めた待望の一枚である。 DEF LEPPARDやMÖTLEY CRÜEを思わせる、バラードを排した疾走感が全編を貫く。冒頭の“Highway Hurricane”から、先行シングル“Little Miss Dangerous”“Midnight Rebels”“Call of the Wild”まで、リフを軸にした楽曲が並ぶ。ダニー・レクソンのプロデュースのもと、キャッチーなコーラスとグラムの美意識は健在だ。本作ではリフを前面に押し出したよりヘヴィな方向へと舵を切りつつ、持ち味のメロディも失っていない。バラードを一切含まない、疾走に徹した構成も痛快だ。20年を超えるキャリアでも屈指の力作である。

Thrill of the Bite is Crazy Lixx's ninth album, a fine work that balances the glamour of 80s glam metal with a modern sonic punch. Released in February 2025 through Frontiers, it is their first proper studio album of all-original songs in a while. Robin Nilsson newly joined on drums. Arriving about three years after Street Lethal and following a compilation, it is a long-awaited record made up entirely of original songs. Ballad-free drive reminiscent of Def Leppard and Mötley Crüe runs throughout. From the opener "Highway Hurricane" to the lead singles "Little Miss Dangerous," "Midnight Rebels" and "Call of the Wild," riff-centered songs line up. Under Danny Rexon's production, catchy choruses and glam aesthetics are alive and well. Here the band steers toward a heavier, riff-forward direction while never losing its signature melody. Its all-drive sequencing, with no ballads whatsoever, is a refreshing touch. One of the strongest works in a career of over 20 years.
