Loud Minority

『Loud Minority』は、スウェーデンのマルメで2002年に結成されたCRAZY LIXXのデビュー作だ。ヴォーカリストのダニー・レクソンを中心に、80年代型のグラム／スリーズ・ロックを鳴らす彼らは、「新世代スウェディッシュ・スリーズ」の一角として登場した。本作は地元のインディー・レーベル、Swedmetalからリリースされている。バンド名は、レクソンが子供の頃に持っていたおもちゃのギターに由来する。当初のギタリストはVic Zinoが務めた。 若い勢いと大きなフックを軸に、MÖTLEY CRÜEやSKID ROWを思わせる、埃っぽくも快活なハード・ロックが全編に展開する。冒頭の“Hell or High Water”“Dr. Hollywood”から、終曲のバラード“The Gamble”まで、直球の楽曲が並ぶ。プロデュースはChris Laneyが手掛け、ストックホルムのPolar Studiosで録音された。限定的な流通ながらシーンで高く評価された、力強い第一歩である。本作はスリーズ・ロックの読者投票で2007年のベスト・アルバム第3位に選ばれ、アンダーグラウンドで確固たる評価を得た。

Loud Minority is the debut by Crazy Lixx, formed in Malmö, Sweden in 2002. Centered on vocalist Danny Rexon and playing 80s-style glam/sleaze rock, they emerged as part of the "New Wave of Swedish Sleaze." This album was released on the local indie label Swedmetal. The band's name comes from a toy guitar Rexon had as a child. The original guitarist was Vic Zino. Built on youthful drive and big hooks, dusty yet lively hard rock reminiscent of Mötley Crüe and Skid Row unfolds throughout. From the openers "Hell or High Water" and "Dr. Hollywood" to the closing ballad "The Gamble," straight-ahead songs line up. Production was handled by Chris Laney, and it was recorded at Polar Studios in Stockholm. A powerful first step, highly regarded on the scene despite its limited distribution. It was voted the No. 3 album of 2007 in Sleaze Rock's readers' poll, earning a solid underground reputation.
