Teaser was Tommy Bolin's first solo album, released in 1975, and this Japanese reissue presents it on two discs. A professional guitarist from his teens, Bolin drew wide attention through his work on Billy Cobham's Spectrum and was then chosen as Deep Purple's second guitarist in place of Ritchie Blackmore, writing much of Come Taste the Band in 1975. Teaser was recorded at much the same time, with Glenn Hughes, Phil Collins, Jan Hammer, David Foster, Jeff Porcaro, Narada Michael Walden, David Sanborn and Stanley Sheldon among the players, and it moves freely between funk, jazz, rock, fusion and reggae; Bolin sings on everything that is not an instrumental. He made one more solo album, Private Eyes, after Deep Purple broke up, and died in 1976 at the age of twenty-five. Disc one holds the nine album tracks on SHM-CD and disc two six outtakes from the sessions on a standard CD, in a cardboard sleeve. Marquee Inc., 24 July 2024, MICP-30185.
