Mosaic is the first Theocracy album in seven years and the first they made for Atomic Fire Records. The Georgia band play progressive power metal of a very melodic kind; they began as a solo project for the multi-instrumentalist Matt Smith, who played guitar, bass, keyboards and drums and sang on the 2003 debut Theocracy entirely by himself. A band formed around him afterwards and released Mirror of Souls in 2008, As the World Bleeds in 2011 and Ghost Ship in 2016. What they write is intricate and, at the same time, immediately singable: an American band whose melodies keep pointing at Stratovarius and Sonata Arctica, with something of Symphony X in how the songs are built. The line-up is Smith on vocals, Jonathan Hinds and Taylor Washington on guitars, Jared Oldham on bass and Ernie Topran on drums. Ward Records released the Japanese edition on 13 October 2023 as GQCS-91393. Ten tracks.
