Lingua Ignota: Part I is a Persefone EP, five tracks and twenty-six minutes of the progressive extreme metal the band have been making since they formed in 2001 in Andorra, the small country in the Pyrenees between France and Spain. Their first album, Truth Inside the Shades, appeared in 2004; the second, Core, in 2006 and the third, Shin-ken, in 2009 both came out through Japanese labels, and the latter takes its title from the Japanese word for a real sword and its subject from a film about Miyamoto Musashi. The band signed to Napalm Records in 2022, and this EP followed on 2 February 2024 as their second release for the label. It is short, but the technical writing and the contrast between extreme and clean vocals are all present. Ward Records issued the Japanese CD (GQCS-91555) on 31 January 2025 alongside the full-length Metanoia, with a commentary booklet and translated lyrics. Two songs have official videos.
