Mind Burns Alive is the fifth album by Pallbearer, the doom metal band from Little Rock, Arkansas, and their first in four years. Brett Campbell and Joseph D. Rowland started it in 2008; a demo in 2010 got them signed to Profound Lore, and 2012's Sorrow And Extinction drew the kind of press a first record rarely gets. Foundations Of Burden took Pitchfork's Best New Music and Decibel's album of the year in 2014, after which they moved to Nuclear Blast and charted on Billboard with Heartless in 2017. This one did not come easily: the first sessions in 2020 were called off by the pandemic, a second attempt in 2022 went nowhere, and Campbell has said he came to feel the album was cursed. A third run at it in 2023 finished the job. Six songs across about fifty-one minutes, bleak and beautiful in the same breath. Nuclear Blast and Ward Records in Japan released it on the same day, 17 May 2024, the Japanese edition as GQCS-91466.
