Loss

Loss is the fifth album by Gaerea, a five-piece who began in 2016 in Porto, in northern Portugal, and their first for Century Media Records. It reached the rest of the world on 20 March 2026, and the Japanese CD arrived on 24 June 2026 from Sony Music Labels. None of the five use their own name on it - the credits read Alpha for vocals, Beta and Delta for guitar, Rho for bass and Xi for drums - and on stage they wear black throughout, with the group's sigil standing in for a face. The same five who made Coma in 2024 stayed together for this record, which was recorded early in 2025 at Demigod Recordings in Portugal with Miguel Tereso, who also recorded and mixed Coma. Century Media's own account of it sets clean singing and choruses beside the post-black metal and post-rock the band had worked in. Four songs had official videos before release - 'Submerged', 'Hellbound', 'Phoenix' and 'Nomad' - with Pavel Trebukhin directing the one for 'Phoenix'. The Japanese edition marked their first show in Japan, one night at Daikanyama SPACE ODD in Tokyo on 14 July 2026, and carries two extra tracks, 'Rush' and 'Yesterday', plus liner notes, lyrics and Japanese translations.
