Lost Not Forgotten Archives: The Making of Scenes from a Memory - The Sessions (1999) is the twenty-first entry in Dream Theater's official bootleg series, and it follows their 1999 fifth album, Metropolis Pt. 2: Scenes from a Memory, as it was being made: demos, writing sessions, rehearsals and alternate takes. The album itself grew out of "Metropolis Pt. 1" from 1992's Images and Words into a rock opera about reincarnation, and these recordings show that structure being argued into shape. The material had been sold in a limited run on the band's own Ytsejam Records; this reissue is newly mastered and newly packaged. Sony Music Labels released the Japanese edition on 4 October 2023 as SICP-31638, a limited pressing on high-quality Blu-spec CD2, two days ahead of the InsideOut release. Fifteen tracks, about an hour and seventeen minutes.
