Odes to the Gods is the debut album by Defenders of the Faith, an eighties heavy metal project put together by Christofer Johnsson, the man behind the Swedish band Therion. It was released on 27 June 2025, with Ward Records issuing the Japanese edition the same day as GQCS-91625, translated lyrics and a Japanese essay included. It began in 2021, when Johnsson bought the first KK's Priest album, read that a second was in progress and asked their management whether they would consider an outside songwriter. No answer came, but the songs he had written did not go away, and he decided to record them as a heavy metal project to mark his fiftieth birthday — which is why the band carries the title of a Judas Priest album. Thomas Vikström sings and the players are largely from Therion; Tim "Ripper" Owens of Judas Priest and KK's Priest, Chris Davidson of Majestica and Diego Valdez guest, keeping to Therion's habit of finding the right voice for each song.
