Chapter One: Atlantic Years 1988-1993

Chapter One: Atlantic Years 1988-1993 puts Winger's five years on Atlantic Records into one box for the first time. In the late 1980s and early 1990s they were among the hard rock bands most played on MTV, and they had everything American hard rock could have then: real playing, chart success, arena tours. What is here is three albums -- the 1988 debut Winger, In the Heart of the Young from 1990 and Pull from 1993 -- plus live recordings, forty tracks in all. "Seventeen", "Headed for a Heartbreak", "Can't Get Enuff" and "Miles Away" appear in both a studio and a live version, so what the stage did to them is there to hear side by side. Played through, the set also shows how the band -- Kip Winger singing and playing bass, Reb Beach on guitar, Rod Morgenstein on drums, Paul Taylor on keyboards -- changed across the three records. The brightness of the debut, the weight of In the Heart of the Young and the hardness of Pull, made in the air that came after grunge, are so unlike each other that five years seems too short a time for it. BMG released it on 17 November 2023. There is no Japanese edition.
