Slide It In

LINER NOTES
LANGUAGE
Slide It In is a turning-point work on which WHITESNAKE, with the tenacity of blues rock as its core, strengthened the outline of hard rock through thicker guitars and bigger choruses. David Coverdale’s soulful singing shifts freely from glossy ballads to aggressive numbers. Keeping the established blues base, the sound steps in a more modern, arena-oriented direction. On “Love Ain't No Stranger” and “Slow an' Easy,” the weight of the riffs and the allure of the singing mesh pleasantly. The title track “Slide It In” and songs like “Standing In The Shadow” and “Guilty Of Love” house strong drive and melodic appeal too. Equipped with many elements that would lead to the huge later success while still keeping a British dampness, it is a full record that vividly reflects the band’s transitional period. After this, WHITESNAKE would head toward its big breakthrough in the American market.
