LINER NOTES
LANGUAGE
With guitarist Jay Noel Yuenger in the band, they reached the metal sound they had been after since Make Them Die Slowly in 1989. Groove-based writing went under it, and the punk and noise rock they had come from was left behind. It is also the last record with drummer Ivan de Prume.
It came out early in 1992 but did not enter the Billboard 200 until the following year, when it climbed to number 26. The trigger was "Thunder Kiss '65" reaching 26 on the Mainstream Rock chart; together with "Black Sunshine" it was played heavily on MTV and rock radio, and the album went double platinum with the RIAA and gold with the CRIA in Canada.
The band toured behind it for two years. A five-month American run beginning in April 1992 had them supporting Testament, Pantera, Trouble and Crowbar, and that autumn they opened for Danzig on the How the Gods Kill tour across Europe and the United States. The running order here is the original's as printed.
