LINER NOTES
LANGUAGE
Toto is the debut on which members with abundant experience as studio musicians sounded precise playing and accessible melody with equal heat. Steve Lukather’s guitar, David Paich’s keyboards and Jeff Porcaro’s drums vividly assemble the details of the songs. As a band gathering top Los Angeles session players, they had a high level of completion from the very start. The strong hook of “Hold the Line,” the smooth groove of “Georgy Porgy,” and the technical vitality of “Child's Anthem” show the band’s breadth. Songs like “I'll Supply the Love” and “Rockmaker” house rock drive and pop refinement too. A big US success already on the debut, it is a highly complete first step that balanced refinement and rock strength from the outset — here is a firm talent that foreshadows TOTO’s golden era to come.
