Lights... Camera... Revolution!

This is the fifth album, and the one on which a Los Angeles band that had lived on the line between hardcore and metal came down on the metal side. The arrangements are more involved than anything before them, and the words are as intricate as the music. The change in the line-up is audible. Robert Trujillo takes over on bass here, and the funk in his playing enters the band's music for the first time; it is also the last studio album with drummer R.J. Herrera. "You Can't Bring Me Down" was played heavily on MTV and is the single reason the record reached gold certification. "Send Me Your Money", "Alone" and "Lovely" were also issued as singles. The album was nominated for Best Metal Performance at the 1991 Grammy Awards, losing to Metallica's "Stone Cold Crazy" — the band Trujillo would join in 2003. The running order here is the original's as printed.
